Why 58 mm? if you are planning to upgrade to a better wide angle lens such as 17-40L, you should get a larger CPL and use step-up rings.

if i went up to 17-40, i would get rid of my EFS 17-55 which is hard to sell. So i have to use it up by myself.
My plan now is 17-55, 50/1.4, 75-300 IS. All of them are 58mm.
when i have budget to buy 77mm suit, I do not mind to buy another CPL.
