Xterra, 接砖!
#1,#2 -------- iso 100, AE mode, mirror lock, tripod, (1/20s,1/30s) totally landscape or still life shooting method was applied to pet photography. It is hard to get the good pictures. for me #1, #2 are not sharp.

This is an old photo I took with my S400 last year. I edit it a bit in PS. It looks more like my original idea. I was not able to do that because I simply did not know how. Today I was inspired by a website. It is a bit of impressionism. not sure if it fits your taste. what the heck. how'd I know if you have not yet seen it.

I found one of my cat picture, which was taken with my 75-300/4.5-5.6 lens (handheld) which is not sharp as 70-200/4 L, but the reflection image in the eyes of the cat looks sharp by my eyes. For the lens, xxb is sharp lens, but 1/30s @200mm for the "live" cat is too slow, in this case it should be better if using XB IS.

Oh, I see your point. It is not my camera, it is the object. a moving object will defeat all the effort I put on the camera. I will not get a clear image if the object is not still. Thanks for the example! I was lack of consideration. :-) However, I think my photos were not as "sharp", not because either of us moved or vibrated. It was because of the complexity of the indoor lights. Yours has a simplier light source which contributed a lot to the sharpness (a clearer reflection on the cat's eyes), I think. I just reviewed mine, I found I could see even myself from his eyes. although it was not as clear. which I believe was caused by the weak and complex indoor lights. Please don't get me wrong, I am not arguing at all. I was just trying to figure out why my photos are not as "sharp" as yours. I still agree that I should not have used ISO100 and a such slow shutter speed for this type of shot. well, I guess there is a lots room to improve then, just like swim. :-) Thanks again! |

Ha ha ha~ (my face is turnning red) Actually, I started using PS last week just before I got my camera. :-D I am still learning. As old saying goes: a great photographer must be a master in dark room. Encouraged by that, I decided not only to learn photography but also to learn dark room technics. Here are a couple of websites I learnt my darkroom technics from: 1> http://luminous-landscape.com/ 2> http://www.dpchallenge.com/learn_index.php especially the second one. real deal. many remarkable photos. check it out, if you have not. you will see what real nice photos are. let's improve together. :-) |

best pet portrait I have ever seen
and guess what camera and lens did the photographer use? a Canon 300D and its kit lens! It demonstrats the truth - what makes a wonderful photo is the brain behind the camera.

kit lens is similar with 17-40 without printing 20 inch photo
![]() but for telephoto, L lens is necessary my upgrade sequence is 18-55 >> 70-200/4 >> 24-70/2.8 >> 1.3x body, upgrading once a year
