why did not u change your visa status, so you do not have to renew every year?

I talked with my manager that I want to change to H-1 or L-1 VISA some time next year.

今天去更新签证,没有带文凭的英文翻译件,被打了回来.前两次签证,海关的人根本就没有要英文copy,有原件和evaluation就够了,没想到今天被那家伙突然袭击.可气的是,第一个TN就是在那家伙手里拿的,以前不要,不等于今天他不要.真让人无语了.

大家注意:渥太华民工赴美务工手册版本已经升级到1.3--supporting documents增加了文凭英文翻译件.

perm position还是转成H1B/L1比较好,省事.

此贴很有用。
另外，再补充两点，
1，(只限于engineer position)，不论你的工作的Title是什么，一定要强调你的工作性质就是Engineering。
2，移民官有时会问你的职位是否和management有关，(business management or people management)，此时要小心，一般就说你只是干活的，不是manager。


另外，有几个问题请教，
1，从TN转H-1或L-1 VISA有什么注意事项，多长时间后可以开始转H或L签证。
2，已经拿到TN签证，并在美国工作，当把配偶办到美国时有什么注意事项。

就是啊，我在网站上看TN的配偶应该用TD（TD:Spouse or child accompanying TN- ）签证的，可是没有找到相关的申请表格！谁办过，给个指点吧！兄弟我实在太痛苦了啊！

Hi,
I am planning to apply for a TN visa next week. My recent diploma will not be released until Nov.13. However, I have received a letter from the university indicating that I have been awarded a degree and invited to attend the convocation. Does anyone know if I can use these letter as an alternative of the diploma? Or can anyone tell me where I can get this question answered? Thanks a lot

thanks for all the information posted here, the whole process of my TN Visa was quite smooth.
There is one thing that might be useful for those people who would like to apply for TN. Be ready to do a little presentation in front of TN visa officer at the custom, they might require you to prove your position really falls into the category of “Computer Systems Analyst”instead of a programmer. If this happen, don't be panic, giving them an good example to demostrate what you will be doing everyday in this position. Those guys are friendly, as long as what you said is reasonable, you will be fine.

I registered my own incorporate in canada while doing contract job last year and I recently got an one year contract job offer from a US recuiter(agent).
I menetioned to the US recuiter that I am incorporated and they send me an offer letter that is written as corporate to corporate sub-contract instead of an offer letter that I be their employee.

My question is: do I need any US visa to provide my (corporate to corporate)service in US? If yes, what type of visa?

If this does not work out, maybe I will apply TN visa and work as a employee of the US recuiter.

Do you need two letters? one for you and onother for Border and Customs Protection. Is the letter has to be issued by HR?

I received application form from a US company recently. There are some questions in the form I am not clear:

1. Will you now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visa status within th U.S.A(e.g. H1B status)?

2. Are you eligible for OPT?

I graduated in June, 2005 and am a canadian citizen. Ho should I answer these questions?

permanent position 可申请TN吗?renew 要去边境吗?
长远打算,看来申请green card还是有好处.

Permanet Position　可以申请TN，但是TN是临时工的签证，所以HR给海关的信写得要有点儿技巧，起止时间仍不可超过一年。

如果你的Msc是跟工作相关的专业，可以直接用它申请签证。

If you work remotely, or just visit your client occansionally, you do not need visa. Otherwise, you must apply TN.

Corp to corp is income tax wise term, it does not change the nature of your employment.
