Is there anyone who is interesed in Mattamy's house in Kanata or barrhanven?

What kind of experience do yo have with it or do you know any pros and cons with its new single houses? It seems its prices are lower than other builders'?

我一个朋友在BARRHAVEN买了他们的新房,现在很后悔,主要是因为:新房要两年多才交房(去年秋天买的SINGLE,要明年的秋天才交房),LOT比一般的发展商的小,标准很低,需要大量的UPGRADE,而且很贵.

Some builders’ standard houses are low in prices to be attractive to buyers. Once you know how EXPENSIVE (VERY expensive and it hurts!) to upgrade with those builders, then buying either other builders with higher standards or a re-sale house with good upgrades already done may actually be a better deal to you.

好像又涨价了。
他家的设计很棒，就是LOT太小，SINGLE的象TOWNHOME. UPGRADE又太贵了。

After visiting some model homes at different locations, we found that Mattamy has similar standards as Minto but has a better location and floor plan. Plus you can choose bigger lots like 43" if you are a big yard fan and prefer garderning work.

I roughly calculated the extra upgrade price( mostly not done through the builder except the structual changes). It is true that every builder charges a lot premium on the additional upgrades. But it seems that Mattamy is still less expensive than Minto or some other builders like Richcraft and Monarch. I heard it is considered as a premium builder in Toronto and has a high quaulity reputation for its houses.But I am not sure why it has a completely different marketing strategy in Ottawa. Delay may be a great concern. Thanks for the reminder!
