The Canadian Chinese Multicultural Productions (CCMP) brings three popular world music artists together for the first time to perform for Ottawa audiences in a two-hour musical celebration of Canadian multiculturalism entitled EAST MEETS WEST III. Co-sponsored by the Parnassos Hellenic Cultural Society, the Embassy of Greece and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China the concert features Jeremy Moyer from Montreal, Julie Larocque from Toronto and George Sapounidis from Ottawa who will each appear with their ensembles and perform original instrumental repertoire and songs performed in languages ranging from English and Ojibway to Greek and Mandarin Chinese.

1) JEREMY MOYER: " TWO STRINGS DANCING CH'I "

Let a mystical spirit transport you... A unique fusion of eastern and western sounds featuring Chinese erhu, gaohu, and coconut shell fiddle; Classical guitar; African kalimba, Indian tabla and various percussion instruments. 2) JULIE LAROCQUE: A "FOREIGN" AFFAIR

With the success of her debut album "Beyond", Julie Larocque will emerge with two new recordings this year: "Observatory", an Electronica CD of industrial beats and organic grooves is slated for release this fall, and "Foreign", an exotic blend of diverse instruments and colorful soundscapes, which will be released in June 2003.

"Foreign" features songs in several languages including English, Hebrew, Ojibway and Latin. Produced by Jason Jaknunas at Raven Street Studios, Larocque orchestrated an array of guest musicians on the CD including: Chris Lochner (guitar), Rob Graves (percussion, didgeridoo), Steve Tevlin (drums), Lee Baillie (tablas, sitar), Ioan Harea (violin), Julian Armour (cello), John Geggie (double bass), Pierre Chretien (hammond, Rhodes) and Linsey Wellman (flute, soprano saxophone).

As part of EMW III, the audience will enjoy a live preview of "Foreign" prior to the CD's official release. Advanced signed copies will be available for purchase, as well as copies of Julie's debut CD "Beyond". (www.julielarocque.com)

3) THE GEORGE SAPOUNIDIS TRIO: " IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME "

George Sapounidis will perform songs about Greece and China with Jeremy Moyer and Ken Easton on African and Middle-Eastern percussion. The Greek repertoire will include songs from the contemporary Greek urban music genres known as Rembetiko and Laiko performed with the Greek bouzouki while the Chinese repertoire will include traditional and original music. Guest artists include Antonio Pantieras on bouzouki and Tang Yi on vocals.

The CD titled "Songs About China and Greece" was released in 2002.
