about renting a car?

I want to buy an used car for summer driving, because I don't think I dare to drive from Oct. to March. So is it better to rent a car to save the insurance and parking and maintanace?

i don't think it's a good idea to rent a car.
even if you are only driving for summer, buying is a better choise.
