I did read the instructions on the box, seems it doesn't mention what needed. I didn't buy it yet, so I don't have the detailed instructions inside. ![]() I goolgled this site only. :P |

That's weird. I bought 2 barrels of wine juice from Costco, and the instruction sheet included did mention the equipment I would need. Oh anyway, here is our list:
-a carboy (big glass jar) -a long plastic stick (forgot the proper name, used for stirring the wine and degas) -a plastic tube (again forgot the proper name, used to empty wine from one container to another, i.e. from primary fermenter - the barrel that you bought from Costco to the carboy) -hydrometer (to measure the maturity of wine) -pink powder (to disinfect all equipment) -many empty bottles, start to collect NOW.

OK, I googled, here is the list of properly-named equipment for wine making:
-6 GL carboy -airlock -hydrometer -carboy spoon (plastic stick) -siphon hose (plastic tube) -bottle drainer -bottle rinser -sanitizer (pink powder) -corker If you buy the wine juice from costco, you should already have: -primary fermenter -corks -labels |

Wine should be stored in between 20 and 25 degrees centigrade. However we find that leaving the wine in slightly lower temperature for slightly longer period of time actually enhances the flavor. Of course you can always use a warming belt.
We made 32 bottles of Merlot and 30 bottles of Chardonnay, for about $3 per bottle, including initial investment of equipment. |
