I got three year fixed 4.8% or variable 4.5%. I would like to do 50% fixed and 50% variable. The bank will pay the transfer penalty for me.

That's probably the safest! I split my mortgage into variable (P-0.85%) and fixed (4.9% 5Y).

what ratio of your splition? How much you can save? Is there an equation for cal?
I fixed at 4.6% 5y. BMO still has 4.64% 5y last week.
