12年新的旧房不会"房子里面没有油烟机的烟道"吧。１９９４年建的房应该算比较新的。厨房抽油烟机的烟道就在安房炉子上面的柜门里。如果真没有，找人作比较难。因为烟道是在板墙里。你还得拆墙。你是把房龄搞错了（不是１２年新的），还是想在厨房以外的的地方再建个新厨房?Good luck!
我的房子也是１９９４年的，roof刚刚换过了。furnace也修过几次了。Poor me.

Regarding the roof, please call this company: P & G Roofing $ Sheet Metal Work Inc. 613-745-3525 for an estimation.

You don't have to change the roof if no leaking problem because the standard life is 20 years.

If the 烟道 can reach the external wall directly, it would be easy and cost you ~$100 to install one. Otherwise you may have to open the drywall to go to basement for external vent, in this case it would cost $500-$1000. DIY if you can.

Quality carpet cost $30-40/sq yard, plus $15-20 for each step on stair. If the condition is not bad and no bad smell, you can just wash it to save money.

One word, not many replacements are required for a 12-year house if no damage found. If you want upgrade, that's another story.

Luckily the 烟道 can reach the external wall directly. So I guess we have to ask somebody to drill a hole for us or just ask for hood fan installation, and they will do it?

To my knowledge, some Chinese range hood venders in Toronto provide installation at $60-100 depends on the job. Talk to your local vender, you should be able to get service.
