Install Mid-efficiency or High-efficiency furnace?
The price difference is so big. A mid-efficiency furnace costs about $2000 while a high-efficiency one costs $4000. Any one has any suggestions or recommendations on which deal is better for a town house?
Thanks. |

do the math . mid-efficiency is about 80% high efficiency is about 90%. you pay about 12.5% more for heating the same house using mid. for a town home, mostly will cost 1000 per year to heat it. so you may pay 120 more per year. 2000/120 = 16 years. A furnace lasts about 25 years. but if you fact in the interest of 2000 dollar. 2000 X 5%= 100 120-100 = 20 dollar. 2000/20 = 100 years.
I go for the mid. |

The high efficient gas furnace with DC motor will save money not only from less gas consumption but also less electricity. It will also provide much more comfort at your home too.
If you install high efficienct gas furnace with DC modor, you could also get big rebates from different sources (total about $1100-$1400). Don't miss it from your cost calculation! |

Thanks for all the input
Thanks. Seems if I plan to live in the house for the next 10 years, maybe I should go with the high efficiency one. Any one has any recommendations on the service providers as well as the brand? Thanks a lot.
