A record-breaking deluge Basements flooded, cars trapped, Peace Tower closed on city's wettest day. Tail end of Hurricane Frances hits us with 129 millimetres of rain Get out the ark. As the tail of Hurricane Frances lashed Eastern Ontario yesterday, Ottawa logged more rainfall than any other day since weather records have been kept. At the Ottawa Airport 129 millimetres of rain had fallen by 10:30 p.m., swamping the old record of 80 millimetres, which was set, coincidentally, on another wet Sept. 9 in 1942. |
