Re.1. Some countries irresponsible actions should not be the justification for not doing the right thing. We have to start the change from somewhere, and I think Kyoto Protocol is a long-due step towards proecting our Earth.
Re.2. This is certainly debatable. It is true that the factors attributed to global warming are still under discussion, but the current best answer is, roughly, most of the warming observed over the last 50 years is attributable to human activities. Also the overwhelming majority of scientists and environmentalists OUTSIDE of US agree that greenhouse gas emission is a major threat to our living planet, even those who oppose Kyoto do not usually disagree in this respect, but rather the COST to implement Kyoto Protocol. On a side note, I'd feel more sympathetic to poorer nations when it comes to protecting the environment, but for the wealthiest nation in the world to ignore such collaborative effort, I can only say "shame on the Bush government!" 引用:

NO, 渐渐, it is not Bush government, it is American people who disagree with you and other liberals. Don't just visit San Francisco, Seattle, Boston or NY and believe they are America. They are not. They are in fact, part of the "United States of Canada". Go visit states like Oklahoma, Idaho, or Utah, and go to any towns that are: 1) With less than 50,000 population. 2) not a college town. People living there are the mainstream of America, they will decide who is going to be the next President and what policy he will hold. They will fiercely defend their own interest (their 3000 square feet house and their 8-cylinder SUVs). And please don't even dream that they will follow orders or commands from liberals in Kyoto, Paris, or Ottawa. Although they were called "RedNeck", they are in fact, smarter than almost all Canadians, except Albertans. |
