这个笑话还反映另外一个问题。不管北京、上海或者全中国搞什么样的现代化建设，不管这些建设能，或者已经，给社会和大众带来怎样的益处，只要他还有不完善的地方，就一定会有人跳出来轻则讽刺挖苦，重则破口大骂。总之，中国（人）不发展他们会骂，正在发展也会骂，发展得不错了更要骂（威胁论）。
