As for the charge, it varies in difference banks. General speaking, money order is quite cheap for a large amount of money (<$10).

顺便问一问，现在能带多少钱在身边，6千还是1万？有什么规定吗？

For China customs, it is US$5000 (include any form)or equivelent (I'm not sure if it changed recently). For Canadian customs, the cash limit is $10K, no limit for money order/bank draft/travel check.

带现钞进入加拿大超过一万以上要在海关申报(以现钞存入银行时,超过一万也同样要申报)。但是似乎没有上限。只是怕有人洗钱。

The $10K limit means you don't have to report and feel confortable to carry it. Otherwise, in addtional to the report, you may be monitored by security authorities for a long time.
