Gifted class is let all the students who got a high scores on their C-CAT test into one class (Gifted class) then the teacher suppose will teach the students faster then other class and suppose let those kids do more homework or more project, the reason is those kids suppose learn faster then others so when they are in Gifted Class then they won't waste their time to wait for someone who need more time to understand what the teacher is teaching. But because there is only one gifted class in one area, so even the kid is meet the gifted profile but may be there is no seat for that kid, so they need to stay in their home school, when this happened, their home school suppose keep their eye on that kid to teach this kid learn faster then the other kids in the same class, just like more homework or more projects, so the kid can apply the gifted class on the next year (if no seat in this year). This is the most what I know about the gifted class, I am not sure I make any mistake or not. I hope it can help you to know more about gifted program.

Specialized Gifted Sites :
English/Core French : Mutchmor(G1-6), John Young (G1-6), Hawthorne (G1-6).
If the school that close to you but no more seat for your kid, you also can apply another that still have seat available, the school board will provide school bus for your kid too, but most of time they will call you and tell you the other school will be too far to your kid, everyday your kid need to spend lot of time in the school bus, sound like they don't want you choose the one that far from you, because that also cost them a lot to provide school bus for long distance. If you don't choose the one far away, then you can apply again on next year.

Actually your kid's home school suppose provide lot of informations about Gifted program to you to let you know more about this. Here is some that I got from my son's school :
The specialized elementary gifted classes have a maximum class size of 25. These classes are available for students in grades 1 through 8 in various locations across the district. The classes in grades 1 to 4 are offered in English ony for students who meet the OCDSB primary gifted placement criteria. Beginning in grade 5 and continuing through to grade 12, English and French Immersion gifted classes are available for gifted children. At present, the OCDSB provides transportation for gifted students as per board transportation policy. Additional information on the Special Education programs of the OCDSB is available on the website at

Also I want you know that the apply was start from March and may be no longer available to apply anymore, so you MUST fill out the application form and return it to your kid's school ASAP.

I appreciate you gave the information. but what is meaning to meet OCDSB primary gifted placement criteria.if we apply the specialized gifted class is very far to study this year, Can we apply the new location in next year. My kid's school just gave us C.C.A.T result last week, I don't know how to going on.

Who qulified to have gifted programs is base on the result of C.C.A.T., so if you got a note from school that said your kid can apply the gifted class that means your kid already meet OCDSB primary gifted placement criteria. Right now what you should do is ask the school give you the form to apply the gifted classes, then at the end of this school year (before summer holiday) you will know the result, of course they will arrange the closer school for the kids, if that one is full then they will call you to let you know where still have seat for your kid, then they will let you have one to two weeks to think about the second school. You can still ask them to put your kid's name on the waiting list of the closer school if you don't want your kid go to the second one. Then on next year the school will give you a new form to apply again, same as the first year. The most hardest one for me is you need to give a reason to the school board why you want your kid join the gifted classes, I think this is a stupid question, there is no special reason why we want, they qulified is the only reason, right?
