Anyone has experience in applying for the chinese visa recently? Any trouble to get the visa recently?

What is the kinship certificate (Xin Shu Guan Xi Zheng Ming)? Where and how do I get it? I found it from the Chinese Embassy website. It says if you are applying for family visit visa, you need to provide this.

Also, do I have to provide Round-way tickets? I am planning to get the visa first before buying the tickets.

I got all 3 visas last week at Ottawa, no need to have the Xin Shu Guan Xi Zheng Ming, but we did provide the plane tickets, although they didn't check that. You don't need to show the actual ticket, an itinerary would be fine.

Everyone must have their own passport with 1 passport size photo. Children must present a birht certificate with BOTH parent's names (the long form in Ontario).

They told me that they are undergoing a huge system upgrade, so they could only give us 30-day visa instead of the 3-month visa last year. We only needed 28 days anyway.

you don't need to provide birth certificate.

you MUST bring your chinese passport if you have one. doesnt matter if you are holding a Canadian passport or not.

you dont need to return ur chinese passport

they will get you back once you get ur VISA, but you can no longer use it anymore.

We used Panda Vacations, round trip from YOW to PEK for $960, connecting in Newark, NJ.

It's a lot cheaper than the quote I got ($1450). Did you get the tickets before July. I was told that the tickets are all very expensive during the summer.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the Canadian passport? I heard Chinese visa will take about 4 days if you have everything they want. I plan to leave at the beginning of July. Do I have enough time to get the Canadian passport and Chinese visa?

I'm traveling on Saturday. Didn't Air Canada just release their summer sale last week? $450/one way to Beijing or Shanghai excluding taxes and fuel surchage.

10 business days to get Canadian passport if you hand in your application in person at the passport office located at 240 Sparks St. Yeah it takes about 3-4 business days to get Chinese visa.

To LS: you have more than enough time to get everything done in time for your planned vacation.
