Winter driving is dangerous on ice and snow, no matter with what kind of car you are driving. There is increased risk with rear drive. You have to gain experience in driving in winter, and with handling of the car. I think for an inexperienced driver, it is best not to increase that risk...

My friend ever had a Ford Mustang. He said it is so terrible to drive it in winter and it is very easy to lose traction on snow. So he sold the car.
