Two Air Canada flights to Ottawa were delayed during a wildcat strike by baggage handlers at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.
About 150 ground crew workers at Air Canada walked off the job last night, delaying several flights.
Air Canada flight 470 was scheduled to arrive in Ottawa at 11:30 p.m., but was delayed two hours. Air Canada flight 472 was also delayed out of Toronto by 85 minutes early this morning.
Air Canada says the job action involved a “small number of ground handling employees” at Pearson International Airport.
Passengers travelling to Ottawa told the Canadian Press that Air Canada said they would be given hotel rooms for the night.
Ryan Tuck said “I’m not too happy” with Air Canada.
The federal government recently passed legislation banning strikes or lockouts at Air Canada, arguing the move was needed to protect the national economy.
