Hello there. I agree that there may have been false information regarding the video. They probably wanted to gain sympathy from people. However, I just want to say that although there may have been a lot of criticism regarding this campaign, it does NOT change the fact on what Joseph Kony was and still is doing. The small bits of misleading information in this video does not change the overall purpose at all. The most important facts are that Joseph Kony has abducted tens of thousands of children. He has made them fight in his army, the LRA. He is a murderer, this is the truth. The whole purpose of this video is that he must be stopped. That is the importance here. Think of all those children in parts of Africa living in the fear of being aducted. I'm sorry but the small bits of misleading information does not change the fact that this is a great campaign. These people have devoted their time and money to help a cause that is halfway across the world from them. I'm sure whoever posted this forum did not blindly support a cause. Rather, I think it's a great cause to support.

I agree that it's a very good campaign, at least, the message is good. I support arresting Kony and disbanding the LRA as I'm a huge advocate of helping third world countries. However, my problem is that IC is simply using this to make money. They are overplaying how valid an issue this is, as a great deal of this problem is already resolved, and the efforts would be much better used elsewhere. This issue has been vastly decreased in the last several years, and is already coming to a close.
If you watch the video, there is a complete lack of evidence, the association of the cause with attempts to make profit, and the use of exclusively emotional commentary. They are advocating for use of military power to back a government that had perpetrated its own share of atrocities, they aren't transparent about how money given to them will be used, and they are creating a witch hunt that won't resolve fundamental issues in that area. All the video really accomplishes is making Invisible Children a much better known organization, which it doesn't deserve to be as it is a poor charity compared to many others.
