this is amazing! but i bet its really embarrassing for all the scientist that we give billions of dollars too and then a 17 year old find a very possible cure for cancer. i can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.

I do not agree that the scientists will be embarrassed. There are thousands of scientists out there working very hard on different types cancers, and we already have some effective treatments in some types of cancers. However, there's still a lot of work to be done to ensure the treatment would be safe and efficacious in humans.

People think the progress on cancer has been very slow. Well, cancer is a very complex disease. Each type of cancer contains multiple subtypes, and each subtype could have multiple causes, some we still don't know the exact mechanism. It is a lot more than just mutated DNA plus cell proliferation. The more I learn about cancer's complexity, the more I appreciate and respect all the scientists that out there doing cancer research. Therefore, I think it's a bit quick to say the scientists would embarrassed because a 17 year old girl have found a potential treatment.
