OTTAWA — Firefighters used brush trucks and ATVs to battle a massive brush fire in Ottawa’s west end Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were sent to the area of Richmond Road and Hope Sideroad near the Lime Kiln Trail at about 3 p.m.
A pillar of thick smoke from the fire could be seen across much of the city. Tinderbox dry conditions fuelled the fire.
Firefighters used tanker trucks to bring water to the scene.
Police blocked traffic on Moodie Drive between Hunt Club and Fallowfield roads as firecrews tackled the fire.
More to come.
