The ex-boyfriend of Gua Huang Liu has been arrested and charged with killing the 41-year-old woman after her body parts were discovered recently in Toronto and nearby Mississauga, police said today.
Chun Qi Jiang , 40, has been charged with second-degree murder.
He was arrested on Sunday, according to Peel Regional Police.
"Mr. Jiang is a construction labourer and the recently estranged boyfriend of the victim," said Insp. George Koekkoek.
"This investigation is ongoing and is far from over," Koekkoek told a news conference at police headquarters in Mississauga.
Victim was with man for 4 years
Police said the man is a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent who arrived in Canada in 2002. He and Liu had a four-year relationship, according to police.

Last week, Peel police confirmed it was her remains that had been recovered from a river in Mississauga and a creek in Toronto. A severed head, a foot, two hands and other body parts were found in the Credit River and Highland Creek.
Liu, a Canadian citizen of Chinese descent, was a single mother of three. She had been operating a spa in a Scarborough mall, but the spa is no longer in business.
Friends said Liu was planning to sell her business after owning it only a few months. The evening she went missing, she was scheduled to meet a prospective buyer.
