OTTAWA — A kitchen fire at a Chinese restaurant Sunday morning caused an estimated $200,000 in damage and left up to five people homeless.

Ottawa Fire Services received a 911 call reporting that there was smoke visible in the basement of Ju Xiang Juan, which is located at 639 Somerset St. W.

Firefighters quickly extinguished flames in the restaurant’s kitchen, bringing the blaze under control by shortly after 11 a.m.

No restaurant staff was present and no one was home in the second and third floor apartments at the time of the fire, according to an OFS news release.

Somerset St. W. was closed between Bronson Avenue and Percy Street while fire crews dealt with the situation.

Damage is estimated at $150,000 to the building and $50,000 to the contents.

The cause is under investigation.

曾经很喜欢湄公的菜，略贵一些，口味有点重。
聚香园应该已经转过好几手。记得曾叫过银星，大排档等等。
第一次吃鸭三吃就在它家，那时才十多块，记忆犹新。
人没事就好，但愿很快就会恢复。
