Police said all children and teachers were safe after they responded to Racines De Vie Montessori, a school at 225 Gamelin St., on Friday morning. About 20 police vehicles were on scene.
The CBC's Evan Dyer reported that one person was dead at the scene, but that no staff or children were hurt.
"We know there's at least one fatality, because we saw one adult-sized body being taken out on a stretcher, covered," he said.

After the shooting, the daycare was evacuated and the children were brought to a neighbouring home.
O'Kelly reported a man had run toward the scene screaming, before a police officer went to him to calm him down.
A briefing from police was expected to begin soon.
