Chinese citizen applying visitor visa in Los Angeles

Hello everyone,

My friend is a Chinese visiting scholar in Los Angeles, she would like to come to Canada for a short visit, like a weekend.

She checked the CIC website, it seems like lots of info is being asked (like income info e.g.) and processing time is not short (like a month!)...

Anybody has experience to share?

P.S. I am hoping to have her over for the May long weekend, is it possible?

but they were asking for proof of income, she doesn't really have any, she got a lump sum for her scholar period, but only saved a bit in her US account and spends using her Chinese visa card, how can she make this work?
