City of Ottawa taxpayers face a $62 property tax increase to cover a 1.9 per cent budget increase.Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says it's the lowest property tax increase in seven years. Watson told CTV Ottawa News at Noon that it's a "stable, reliable, and predictable budget".It's also seen a pre-election budget as voters will go to the municipal polls next fall.There are no lay-offs. In fact, the $3 billion budget adds 55 jobs to the City Hall payroll.OC Transpo fares will increase by 1.9 per cent. That translates into a $2 increase a month for a Regular Adult Pass to over $100 monthly. The monthly Express Pass will be hiked to over $124 monthly. And the U-Pass will go up to $188 a month. The bus fare increases will take effect next July.
