An IMG file is a disk image file. IMG files may be burned to CD or DVD. Operating systems, such as Ubuntu, are downloaded in the IMG format. In such cases, the IMG file is simply burned to a disk using a ROM burning utility. However, the IMG file is simply an archive, similar to a ZIP file. Should you need to extract the files in an IMG archive for your business, you can easily do so by using a standard archiving utility, such as 7-Zip, WinRAR or WinZIP.

img为garmin gps 的文件扩展名，可以直接被gps读取。如果你的gps的内存足够大，你可以直接命名此文件为gmapsupp.img拷贝到gps，或者拷贝到sd card，先建一个文件夹garmin拷贝gmapsupp.img到此文件夹。还有一种选择，命名此文件为gmap.img替代gps原有的文件。记住备份你的旧gmap.img文件，以防万一。
