一个美国姥终于领教了昨晚渥太华的寒冷
Quick Story: American here, underestimating Canadian winter in Ottawa.
Hey
/r/Ottawa. Been a lurker for a while and made some random posts here and there.
But fuckall, its cold out here tonight (-29 C° with this windchill).
Long story short, I was out earlier tonight with my Girlfriend to buy some snacks for my plane ride back to NYC later this afternoon. As we're outside, I simply removed my gloves and fixed my jacket for what had to have been a min or so, while walking. I kept them off for longer than expected as I was also trying to find my wallet.
Halfway to the gas station after about 5 minutes, still with no gloves on, I feel the tips of my fingers go numb... but never this numb.
I put on my gloves and turn on a heel, telling my girlfriend I can't feel my fingertips
at all.
We run to her house, almost sprinting as I blew hot air into my thick gloves (that weren't help keep my hands warm at all).
Scared as all fuck, we're in her house and she gets me a bowl of lukewarm water to help me warm up and bring back healthy circulation into my fingertips.
Whats crazy about this situation is that I was so bundled up from head to toe minus keeping my fingers in for a few minutes, and now I have a tiny prickling pain in some of my fingertips.
Damn Canada, you
cold. But I had an
awesome vacation.
Thank you.

-29 only? You should be here last year in the -40. That is the time the bus driver didn't come and makes me want to murder that bastard.
