A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer?
After about 4 months of having the laptop, Windows completely shut down on me, I mean it was literally wiped clean from my laptop. So, I took it to Best Buy's Geek Squad (because I have their tech support) and they fixed the problem for me. Well, about another 5 months later, this message showed up:
"A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated.
Technical information:
STOP: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA8009090B30, 0xFFFFFA8009090E10, 0xFFFFF80001D900D0)"
At first, I didn't pay it any mind. I just restarted the computer and that was that. But then, I noticed that every couple hours, my computer would freeze, and the screen would show back up. Once again, I took it to Geek Squad and they solved the problem.
Well, about 3 months later, the problem resurfaces again. I take it to Geek Squad and they swear up and down that it's a Windows 7 problem, and not a hardware problem. So they fixed it for me. Now, not even a month later, this message shows up again, and I have no idea what to do at this point. I'm so tired of this laptop, and I feel as though I'm stuck. Geek Squad seems to be only a temporary fix, and my warranty on the laptop was only for a year.
What could the problem be? I don't have a Windows 7 disk, because it came preinstalled on my laptop, and they never gave me a disk for it. What should I do?
Thanks. Update : It's not overheated. I haven't used my laptop in over a week. Today is actually the first day that I had used it again and not even an hour later the screen showed back up. So, I'm sure it has nothing to do with overheating." id="yui_3_9_1_10_1404269578653_464" style="margin-bottom: 10px;">

First thing is to run diagnostic on it. When you press the power button start tapping the F10 key. If an Edit Boot Options screen appears, press the Enter key. If a Windows Boot Manager screen appears, select VAIO Recovery Environment and then press the Enter key. In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program, click VAIO Hardware Diagnostics, computer problems related to hardware can be diagnosed using this option, test everything. If the hard drive fails or it says you do not have a hard drive, then you're going to have to get a new one and order the recovery DVD from Sony. If everything passes, it sounds like the OS is corrupted. If you have a system repair CD or a Windows install DVD, boot from the DVD/CD and run repair from it. You will have to access the boot device options in the BIOS to make it boot from the DVD/CD. If you do not have a system repair CD you can make one from a puter that has the same OS as yours. If that does not fix it then your probably going to have to reload your OS to get back up and running.
You will need to recover your data and files before doing that.

If a Windows Boot Manager screen appears, select VAIO Recovery Environment and then press the Enter key. In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program, click Rescue Data, this option can be used to detect and save data to an external hard drive or removable media prior to a system recovery.
Once you have recovered what you need you can reload your OS.

If a Windows Boot Manager screen appears, select VAIO Recovery Environment and then press the Enter key. In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program, click Restore C Drive, this option is used to reset the entire C drive partition back to its original factory software configuration. Data on other partitions is not affected.

TWB 35+ years of experience in the service industry. You name it, I have probably fixed it. I did not design it, I did not build it, I did not break it, but I am the one who can fix it. What that means is that I have spent a life time taking these things apart and seeing how they are made.
The difficult we do right away, the impossible just takes a little longer.
