wifi network is very weak

hi-speed internet service with Rogers, upgrade to Hitron 3 modem, and place it in the living room on main floor, wifi signal is very weak in the second floor...phoned rogers and were told that's the best modem, and they really cannot do better. We heard of wifi repeater, not sure how it works, anyone knows?

看说明书。进入一个网页，型号强弱可以改变的。如果还不行，明天再call rogers，遇到好的技术支持，远程就可以诊断。

There are some apps you can download on your smart phone or tablet to check nearby wifi frequency and channels. So you can adjust yours to get better reception. If you like to experiment wifi repeater, google "router as wifi repeater" so that you can download custom firmware in order to convert an old router to a repeater.

DD-WRT 路由器可以做repeater，
或者去Futureshop买一个路由器接在现有的路由器后面，都可以。

did my research today, I guess a range extender is the easiest way of doing it. May contact Rogers to ask for switch back to hitron 2 modem other than hitron 3, as they charge me $7 bucks more monthly...
