Practice skills! Maria Luisa de Moreno International Foundation serves those in need and provides a bridge to government support. They require a French teacher with experience an asset and excellent communication skills; a bookkeeper accounts administrator, with one year of experience in the non-profit field, expert knowledge of QuickBooks, Excel, Word and strong data entry; and a reliable fundraiser with strong communication skills. Also needed: an experienced event planner; administrative assistant with experience/knowledge of office functions and fluency in English or French (an asset), proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Making a shelter into home: Matthew House Ottawa Furniture Bank provides quality donated furniture to clients referred by social agencies and support groups across Ottawa. Matthew House Ottawa Refugee Services provides a safe home environment for up to 10 refugee claimants. They require a receptionist to assist clients, maintain paperwork, keep records and perform other duties as assigned. Good communication and computer skills are vital, as is an empathetic attitude. Data entry whiz: The Ottawa Rotary Home provides respite care for children, teens and adults with physical disabilities. They need a data entry volunteer to transfer data from one computer system to another. Contact Chantal Ladouceur at 613-236-3200 or chantall@rotaryhome.on.ca

Driving force: Project Upstream provides support to adults and youth with a mental illness. Volunteer drivers are required to drive and escort clients to their medical appointments/activities or services. Mileage and parking will be reimbursed. A police records check is required. The Caring and Sharing Exchange is very busy at this time of year. Volunteers are needed to collect empty beer/wine bottles outside of local beer stores on Saturday, Dec. 13. You must be 18 and older. Great opportunity for groups! And on Friday, Dec. 12, volunteers are required to collect donations at the annual Christmas Cheer Broadcast at the Rideau Centre.
