求助：关于University of Victoria 本科Social Science录取的专业问题

国内一个朋友孩子收到UVIC offer: Social Science，可是Social Science是一个Faculty，下面有这些这么多风马牛不相及的专业：Anthropology, Economics, Geography. Psychology, Sociology. Political Science 。。。

我的疑问是，难道加拿大本科的录取书只分Faculty，不管专业的？她的兴趣是在商科、经济方面，如果进来以后读的是心理学、人类学，那可是扯淡了

申请大学应该是申请Faculty,program, 或者major?

每个学校甚至专业都不一样，有的是第一年就进了专业，有的要等大二，甚至大三。下面的info不知有没有帮助，最好写信问直接问学校。

How do I declare my program?
Once you've chosen a program, you complete a Request for Record of Degree Program (RDP) form available from the Advising Centre located in University Centre, Room A203. You can also access the RDP through MyPage. For more information seehttp://www.uvic.ca/services/advising/home/faq/index.php.

Once you have chosen a program you can also modify your program (e.g. adding/dropping a minor or option) by simply checking the change to program declaration option on the RDP form.

Note: If you intend to do an honours degree you first declare your major in economics and, in your third year, apply to the Honours Program. If you intend to do a minor in economics you must first declare your major in another discipline.

Is there anywhere else I can go for advice about economics?

@wikilala，我的理解对不对？对于UVIC，offer letter是针对Faculty的，进去后1-2年自己根据兴趣申请Request for Record of Degree Program？也就是说不管学生是对经济、心理学还是地理学，收到的Offer是一样的！

这样我有一个担心，在Social Science学院里面，是不是有些Program是热门的，有些冷门的？可能发生这种情况，读了一两年后才发现自己喜欢的专业（比如Economics）进不去，只能选别的自己不喜欢的专业？

有些大学是这样的，无论是商科或者经济类，开始的第一年（或者前两年）都放在social science. 就拿western university 来言，它的商学院 richard ivey 也是本科第三年才正式进入，前两年都放在social science 里.
