https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_title_branding

About 12 years ago my brother got in an accident and destroyed a 95 Grand Am. It was a complete write off, and my parents were paid out in full by the insurance company. A few years later they received a notice in the mail that their car needed servicing. The notice came from an Ottawa area dealership, and we are in Southern Ontario. They called the dealership, and they said it had been serviced there within the last few months.
After some further investigating, they came to find out that the car was sold to someone in Quebec, and it was either repaired, or the VIN number was being used on another Grand Am. They had to call the MTO and verify that it was no longer their VIN.
It was explained to them that many cars that are destroyed in Ontario, end up in Quebec for repairs or whatever they decide to do with it.
I would be wary, but be sure to check the UVIP and make sure everything adds up.
I know some cars are repaired after accidents, but this car was destroyed. Front end collision, then T-boned, the frame was a wreck.
楼主good luck, and happy car shopping!
