I have both as indoor plants. They are different. Roots and branches are eatable but who wants to eat gorgeous plants? It likes full sun and humidity and won't survive the winter outdoor. To the best of my knowledge, it is not poisonous.

Yours is somewhat pinkish and mine is green. I like yours' colour but I have five planted in one pot, the different heights, sizes and patterns make them breathtakingly gorgeous! It is like lilla malanga/taro (annual) and can be planted in water --- fish underneath makes it even better. Another similar plant is allocacia jolly (zebra plant) whose colour, shape and patterns are simply out of the world!
