January 21, 2016 – Primus announces an agreement to be acquired by Birch Communications
TORONTO, JAN 21, 2016 – We’re pleased to announce that we've entered into an agreement to be acquired by Birch Communications. In order to complete the sale of our business and assets to Birch, we’ve commenced a restructuring process that must be approved by the courts over the coming weeks. We’re excited about the combined company which will provide a broader array of services at prices designed to best serve Primus customers and we’ll continue to offer a strong competitive choice in the marketplace.

Primus Canada was purchased in 2013 by York Capital Management Inc for USD$129 million through a series of subsidiaries in various countries including the Cayman Islands, so complicated that I gave up trying to understand it.
In spite of Primus's astonishingly high prices (some of their prices are HIGHER than the incumbents, for example, their residential VoIP product's $0.05/minute long distance rate to Canada and the US) and inept front-line staff, they've lost about $15 million in 2015.
Birch Communications is buying them from York for $44 million (I assume USD). So, I decided to research Birch Communications.
