Ashley Guindon, 29, was
fatally shot in Prince William County, Virginia on February 27 — her first day on the job after being sworn in as a police officer. Ashley held a degree in aeronautics
Talk about impressive. Ashley
graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, and earned a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics! That is not something just anyone can do. Ashley was clearly special. She graduated from Merrimack high school in New Hampshire in 2005.
She served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve
AShley was a tough cookie. Before joined the police academy, she served in the Marine Reserve as a corporal. She was assigned to Bolling Air Force Base, and tasked with sending home the remains of fallen Marines.
This wasn’t her first time on the force
While this was her first day on the job as a Prince William County police officer, Ashley has actually been an officer before. She had once served as a county police officer, according to county supervisors chairman
Corey Stewart, but left the force for several years and returned this February.

She had her pilot’s license
Interestingly, Ashley
had a license to fly historical aircraft. As in, she could pilot anything, from any time since the inception of airplanes. How cool is that? It’s unknown why, or how she had the distinction.
She has family in law enforcement
While it’s unknown who in her family has served in law enforcement, Ashley was related to other officers.
