旧话重提： 从“在天润吃饭给不给小费”谈起。

有人认为餐馆服务员服务的不好，不值得付小费。你是否知道小费到底归谁了？
据我所知，唐人街的中餐馆和越南餐馆中，只有翠林，扬子江，珠城的服务员
可以得到均分小费。其余的餐馆小费全部归老板，服务员只拿最低工资。

所以，我建议各位去餐馆用餐时，先悄声问一下服务员小费是否归他们。
如果不是，我看各位无需付小费，因为我们已经付了餐费。大可不必讨论
小费的百分比。我们没必要付给老板额外的金钱。

如果小费归服务员，可视服务态度和质量付小费。

我觉得还是要给吧

因为刚过来的时候,别人教我给10%-15%, 税前的.所以我总是看帐单上税是多少,然后给多少.

后来,在美国跟一个同学吃饭,他交钱的时候,看了一下就交了,比15%还多.我就问他这边的规矩.他说,不管别人怎么给,他是给20%然后凑整.因为他也打过工.

我想他这样做是对的.既然出来消费,就不要太小气.点菜的时候,先把税和小费算上就是拉.要省还是从自己身上省吧.

In China town, the servers must hand in your tips to their boss even if you give them cash,otherwise she/he will be fired.

我女朋友曾在一家越南店里打过工,没有小费.老板看到桌子上有客人留下的小费,他会用飞毛腿的速度过去那.有一次我女朋友回来说,有一个外国 老太太给了老板$2的小费,后来又给了我女朋友$5的小费说:" That's for you '结果被老板当着哪个老太太的面给抢过去了.老太太很不解问我女朋友为什么?我女朋友耸耸肩什么也没有说,后来那老太太也厉害居然又把那$5又那回来了.拿到那周的薪水后,我女朋友就没有再去了.

我曾问过一家越南人餐馆的服务员，她说小费归自己。但她们会适当分点给大厨。

My roommate worked in a Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown for more than one year. He never got any share of the tips from his boss, who collected all the tips. He was only paid the minimum wage. I also know some friends who work in the non-Chinese or Vienamese cafeteria or restaurants. They all get their tips. In fact, they get more tips than their wages.

Yes, it's an long-established custom in many countries to tip the waiters/waitresses (and many other people who provide services to you, of course). However, it's also the same custom for the restaurant owners not to take the tips away from the waiters/waitresses. The customers are oblidged to tip the waiters/waitresses, not their bosses. Therefore, I would say it's a good approach to asked the waiter/waitress if he/she will get the tips. If the waiter/waitress cannot get any tips, you don't have to tip the boss. Shame on the boss, not on you.

But the reality among our Chinese people here is that many of us don't give tips at any restaurants!
