Take some time out of eating turkey to dig out the gloves and cover up the plants, for the cold weather season begins this weekend.
Environment Canada issued a frost advisory on Sunday morning, saying temperatures may drop close to or below the freezing mark across the city overnight. Such advisories are issued during the growing season when the temperatures may drop to a level detrimental to plants. It also helps us remember to dig out the socks and hats.
The low is expected to dip to about 1 C Sunday night.
To blame is a ridge of high pressure that, while bringing cool weather, also brings clear skies and a sunny day on Thanksgiving Monday, when the high is forecast to each 13 C, and low continues at 1 C.
Temperatures will warm up briefly by Wednesday, with the highs reaching about 18 C, and temperatures only dropping to only 12 C, before returning to 1 C for overnight Thursday.
