Ottawa Fire Services was called to the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex in Orléans at 7:23 p.m. on Friday after reports of heavy smoke coming from the building.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a working fire that originated from a light ballast, which is part of a florescent light bulb, a news release stated.
The building was evacuated and there were no injuries.
The fire was extinguished before 8 p.m.
Fire crews are not investigating.
