Ottawans are getting spoiled by the gorgeous fall weather, and that continued on Saturday as temperatures reached 22 C in the sun, falling just short of the record high for Oct. 21.
The mark of 24.2 (for years between 1939 and 2011) was set back in 1979, but the official high of 22.1 on Saturday left those in the capital shivering at the thought of 11.3, the average high for the day.
Some clouds did roll in as the day progressed and the overnight temperature was expected to dip to 8, but we should be able to warm up again on both Sunday and Monday.
Sunday calls for a high of a high of 21 and a low of 13, while Monday’s high is to be 22, with a low of just 18. Both days are to feature a mix of sun and cloud.
Many took advantage of the balmy October conditions and got out to enjoy the fresh air, including two window washers who Citizen photographer Ashley Fraser spotted working hard high above Ottawa’s streets.
Not everyone ventured outdoors, however. Both the National Women’s Show and the Ottawa Ski, Snowboard & Travel Show were taking place at the EY Centre. The women’s show continues Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. while the ski, snowboard and travel show also wraps up Sunday, from 9 until 6.
