A mother spent a terrified 15-20 minutes in Pointe Gatineau Thursday night when her vehicle was stolen with her baby on board.
The baby was found safe inside the vehicle about 20 minutes later.
The jacking occurred when the mother stopped at a convenience store at Saint-Rosaire Street and Chemin de la Savane at about 7:45 p.m.
As she reached into the car to remove her child, she was pulled onto the street and the thief jumped into the vehicle.
The mother called police who issued an all-points alert, and located the abandoned vehicle on Pointe Gatineau Street, with the baby was still on board.
Police brought in a search dog and special teams but the suspect remains at large.
The suspect is described as about 25 years old with medium build, wearing a grey-blue coat.
Police suspect the thief did not know there was a child in the car when he stole it.
Detectives continue to examine surveillance video from the convenience store.
