What a difference a day makes.
Ottawa seems to have been spared the brunt of the winter storm, but there’s still a special weather statement in effect as of Saturday morning.
Environment Canada is saying that snow will continue to fall across the eastern half of the National Capital area this morning, as well as across Prescott and Russell.
Most areas will receive 2 to 4 more cm of snow before it comes to an end this morning.
Winds will be from the northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50, and temperature steady near -15, giving a windchill of -26. Tonight should see a low of – 28 and windchill -36.
This will bring total snowfall amounts to 10 to 15 cm for most of the area, with a few locally higher amounts possible.
Hazardous winter driving conditions both from the accumulating snow and the underlying icy conditions from the flash freeze of Friday will continue early this morning.
The best driving advice is to not make any sudden moves.
Snowfall and winter storm warnings are in effect in the St. Lawrence Valley and Montreal area,
Here’s what Ottawa had to contend with yesterday, as the area hit several seasons in one day.
