Join us on Parliament Hill, bring your signs, noisemakers and friends and family as we gather to unite against racist violence in Canada and shut down fascists in their attempt to organize further.

A year after the Québec City shooting, fascist groups are still actively trying to instigate violence against Muslims and other targeted groups. More recently, they are trying to instrumentalize a false allegation coming from kid in Toronto to stir up distrust between communities and deny the existence of violence against Muslims. A far-right organization with roots in the Chinese community in Toronto, the Chinese Canadian Alliance, is also trying to take advantage of the situation and allying itself with the usual white supremacist crowd to organize a rally on Parliament Hill on February 18.

We know that racist violence against Muslims in Canada is real, from murder to targeted vandalism and harassment in public places. Even when it comes to false allegations, Muslims have had to deal with slander, scapegoating and unfair criminalization from the state; we only need to remember the ordeal faced by Hassan Diab, a Carleton University professor who was jailed for years on false terrorism charges simply because he shared the name of another person. False allegations must be taken seriously, and this includes not letting right-wing groups with a divisive and violent agenda take advantage of them.

We will be taking the Hill before the racists and bigots are set to enter to make sure the anti-racist message takes center stage. There will be speakers, with a list later to be confirmed.

We will be meeting at 1pm at the Terry Fox statue on Wellington St and walking over to the hill as a group.

Accessibility note: Fascists and their allies will be organizing that day, so we can’t guarantee safety from these people. These organizations may sound scary, but in reality they are the ones who are scared, and they are scared by you, the masses. By organizing together through demonstrations like this, we can drown out their message and their presence, and let them know that they are not welcome to take over public spaces and intimidate marginalized people.

We will have volunteer dispatchers and escorts available away from Parliament Hill after the rally is over.
