Thursday may be the calm before the (freezing rain) storm.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement because a low-pressure system could bring freezing rain or drizzle starting early Friday morning near Georgian Bay, hitting eastern Ontario by early afternoon.
Highways, roads, walkways and parking lots – just in case they’re not slick enough after Wednesday’s thaw and freeze – “may become icy and slippery” but the risk of freezing rain should end by late afternoon as temperatures rise above zero.
Thursday’s forecast is for increasing cloudiness, a high of -2 C and an overnight low of -8 C.
I don’t get why they can’t keep the @NCC_Skateway open when Mother Nature has turned my entire property into a sheet of ice. #ottweather

Hey @ottawacity, quite a bit black ice out there on the side walks. Might want to head out & salt. Almost fell a few times. #JustSayin #Ottawa #OttWeather

Along with periods of freezing rain beginning near noon changing to periods of rain by late afternoon, Friday promises a high of 3 C and a low of -1 C, which comes along with a 30 per cent chance of overnight flurries or rain.
Saturday looks gorgeous with a mix of sun and cloud and high of 6 C.
Then it’s back to potentially-messy weather with a 40 per cent chance of snow or rain and a low of -5 C Saturday night then a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow and a high of 4 C Sunday.
There’s 30 per cent chance of flurries or rain showers and a forecast low of -4 C overnight into Monday.
The forecast early next week is for mixed, but dry, skies and mild highs: 4 C Monday, 3 C Tuesday and 4 C Wednesday.
#Ottawa now has less snow on the ground than any day since Dec 11th. We are down to 4cm as of 7pm tonight. #OttWx pic.twitter.com/OREFIG8IZ6
