A 58-year-old woman from Cornwall has been charged with careless driving, after allegedly swerving toward transport trucks on a highway, crashing into one and fleeing the scene by foot.
On Wednesday around 5:10 a.m., OPP officers received a call from someone reporting an aggressive driver heading eastbound on Highway 401. The driver was reportedly swerving toward transport vehicles.
Five minutes later, the driver crashed into a tanker-truck east of Highway 137 in the Leeds and the Thousand Islands Township, said the OPP.
Officers located the driver, who allegedly fled from the scene, around one-kilometre away from the crash and took her to hospital in Brockville for a medical evaluation.
A part of Highway 401 was temporarily closed for investigation.
The woman charged was not identified by the OPP.
