A 26-year-old Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry man is facing a string of charges linked to allegations that “indecent and sexually violent” phone calls were made to victims on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border.
The OPP reports that it had the help of the RCMP and American officials with the Department of Homeland Security and United States Capitol Police in a nine-month investigation launched after police were notified of “numerous” calls to people and agencies on both sides of the border.
Neither the OPP nor U.S. officials would comment on the identity of the victims.
Two search warrants were executed by the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP’s crime unit at homes in South Dundas and South Stormont townships Tuesday.
Ryan Munroe is charged with six counts of indecent communications, one count of uttering a threat to cause bodily harm and two counts of public mischief.
