Ottawa awoke to grey skies Thursday with a forecast of showers that will diminish to a 40 per cent chance of rain in the late afternoon and evening, with the risk of a thunderstorm. Southwest winds at 30 km/h will gust to 50.

The mercury was expected to creep from 18 C in the morning to a high of 21 C before plunging to 1 C overnight with the risk of frost as skies clear.

Friday is cooler but sunnier with a high of 13 C and low of 5 C.

A 30 per cent chance of showers has crept into the forecast for Saturday with a high of 17 C and low of 4 C.

For Sunday, expect mixed skies, a high of 17 C and low of 8 C.

Monday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud, a high of 22 C and a low of 9 C.

Ditto for Tuesday with a high of 21 C and low of 7 C.

A 30 per cent risk of showers returns for Wednesday with mixed skies and a high of 21 C.
