Police say a credit card stolen during a violent residential robbery was used recently in Brockville, where two people suspected of beating and robbing an Ottawa man were seen on a gas station surveillance camera.

According to police, one man and one woman allegedly broke into an apartment in the 100 block of Charlotte Street in Lowertown around 7 p.m. on March 31.

Once inside, they allegedly assaulted a 62-year-old man, who was later taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Various items were allegedly stolen from the man’s apartment, including jewelry, cash and credit cards.

A credit card from the home was then used at a Brockville gas station on April 5 in a strip mall on Stewart Boulevard, close to the onramp for Highway 401.

Police said the man who used the card has a description similar to the male suspect in the earlier assault and robbery.

Police released photos of the suspects, one taken from an apartment building stairwell, and a series of photos from a gas station.

The suspects are both white, between 23 and 30 and both spoke English.

The male was wearing a black sweater with the hood up during the alleged assault and robbery, with sunglasses, a light-coloured cap, dark pants and black Adidas running shoes. A suspect with a similar description, wearing slightly different clothes, is pictured in the gas station surveillance photos.

The female suspect was wearing a black hoodie with the word “FOX” in large green letters on the front, a white cap and dark pants and shoes.

The female suspect is not seen in the gas station surveillance photos released by police.

Anyone with information is asked to call the robbery unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116.
