Ottawa police say they will continue their crackdown on disorderly behaviour in the ByWard Market, Rideau Street and Montreal Road corridors this weekend, warning the public that crime, aggressive panhandling and Liquor Licence Act offences will not be tolerated.

“We have heard the concerns of both businesses and residents,” Supt. Mark Ford said in a news release Friday. “We are actively working to maintain the safety and security of community members and visitors in these vibrant communities.”

As is typical come summer, more officers on bike and on foot will be active in the high-traffic neighbourhoods, alongside a number of Ottawa Police Service units.

They’ll be joined by Ottawa Bylaw, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and OC Transpo partners.

You can report crime online at www.ottawapolice.ca/onlinereporting, by calling the non-emergency number 613-236-1222, ext. 7300, or by dialling 911 in the case of an emergency.
