The old saying goes, ‘It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.’ Apparently, that’s a bit of a lie.
This weekend, we’ll have both for Canada’s 151st birthday, resulting in a heat warning from Environment Canada.
Saturday should see a mix of sun and cloud. The morning’s brief shower should make things just a bit more steamy.
Environment Canada is predicting a 40 per cent chance of showers late this morning (and this afternoon and evening) with the risk of a thunderstorm.
Winds will be out of the west at 15 km/hour.
The high will reach 33 C with a Humidex of 41. Pack your sunscreen with your umbrella, because the UV index will be 8 or very high.
Temperatures should cool to 20 C overnight.
Sunday, things get really interesting with a temperature predicted to be 36 C (Humidex a tropical 49).
If you’d like to get out there and enjoy your Canada Day weekend, here’s everything you need to know.
